Also
known as "red maps" or "maps 123 Entel"
(the sponsor). It is a series of maps in different scales
that cover most of Chile, with the exception of the area between
Antofagasta and Los Vilos. Other than most road maps, they
have contour lines --information especially appreciated by
bikers. They don't get updated very frequently; some maps
have only been re-printed, some titles have not been available
for a long time.
Maps in larger scale sometimes show tracks inside private
estates, where it is not allowed to trespass.
The maps with trekking details have additional information
like campsites, walking hours and possible dangers or hazard
zones. They are very useful, but do not have enough coordinates
to be used along with a GPS. |
