In
April 2011 Navimag sold its ferry Puerto Edén
that used to make this popular trip. Between July and
September, there were some departures with the ferry
Evangelistas, but there are no
trips scheduled to Laguna San Rafael with the ferry
until May 2012.

Navimag
offers the option to embark in Puerto Chacabuco, instead of
sailing from Puerto Montt. This way, the trip takes only two
nights navigating through the channels plus the full day at
the Laguna San Rafael. It is a good option if you want to
make a combination with a visit to the Carretera Austral traveling
by land or if you are coming from Argentina or from another
point further south.

| Itinerary |
The
ferry arrives on Sunday's evening from Puerto Montt. Once
all the trucks, cargo and other vehicles have disembarked,
starts the check in for the new passengers. The departure
is set for 10 PM. The ferry travels throughout the night arriving
at 9 AM at the Laguna San Rafael. Weather permitting, the
passengeres get into excusion boats in order to have a closer
look of the icebergs. After lunch, documentaries are shown
on board, and the ferry sets sail around 5 in the afternoon
through a labyrinth of narrow channels towards Puerto Chacabuco.
Passengers disembark the next morning.

that transports vehicles, cargo and passengers. It has cabins
of different categories, and berths in a dormitory. The ship
has also common areas like a restaurant, a pub/cafeteria and
panoramic decks.

prices are per person. If you don't mind sharing with other
passengers, it is possible to buy one or more berths in a
cabin at the quadruple rate. If you wish a cabin exclusively,
it applies the rate for single person when traveling alone,
double for two people, and triple for three.
The
price includes full board, but not the alcoholic drinks.
