Detailed description (Text by Patagonia Connection):

Day 1 / Balmaceda - Puyuhuapi
Reception in the Balmaceda airport. Begin tour through the Aysen region, crossing 45 min. of Patagonian pampas to reach the city of Coyhaique. Along the way we are likely to spot pairs of caiquenes (wild goose) and flocks of bandurrias (storks) through the tall grasses. The vast remains of burned forest are vestiges of the region’s recent colonization period. Short visit to the city, and then we continue along the Carretera Austral to the Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa (5 hrs). Much of the trip is along a gravel road that passes through extraordinary landscapes of dense forests between mountains and cliffs. In the afternoon we arrive at the Lodge’s pier and then cross the Puyuhuapi Channel by motorboat in just 10 minutes. Welcome!

Day 2, 3 and 4 / Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa
Surrounded by lush vegetation, and accessible only by sea, this unique Lodge is where understated luxury and a well planned simplicity combine to create a unique atmosphere. The Lodge offers a variety of fascinating excursions in the cold rainforest and the Queulat National Park, after which one can wind down in the outdoor hotspring pools at the edge of the sea or in the wonderful Spa. The Spa´s facilities are complete. Enjoy its large hydro massage pool, jacuzzis, spring-water fountain, and steam sauna, and then reap the benefits of thalassotherapy sessions, relaxation massages, and facial treatments.

Day 5 / Puyuhuapi - San Rafael Lagoon - Chacabuco or Coyhaique
Our day begins early. At 7:00 am., we board the PATAGONIA EXPRESS catamaran and begin our journey through the austral fjords on our way to the San Rafael lagoon. The 7- hour route is a sheer delight to the senses: the transparency of the waters, the majesty of to the Andes Mountains wrapped in lush forests, the play of light interwoven through the clouds, and sometimes… encounters with playful dolphins. Sailing through a number of channels, we finally reach the Tempanos River, which leads us to the San Rafael Lagoon, home to a millenarian glacier. Experience it! After a visit of approximately 2 hours, we begin our return trip, arriving in Puerto Chacabuco around 10:30 pm., where we will be transferred to the hotel in Puerto Chacabuco or Coyhaique.

Day 6 / Chacabuco or Coyhaique - Balmaceda
After breakfast, bus drive to the airport in Balmaceda. Bon Voyage & Hasta la Vista!

Program "Fly Fishing"

flexibles stays and departures

(Text by Patagonia Connection):
SEATED IN THE VERDANT HEART of the Chilean Patagonia, the Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa is surrounded by land where lakes with water as clear as air are joined by an arterial network of beautiful pristine rivers to the enchanted fjords, channels and bays that probe the entire coast and finger out among the many islands. Gentle tides nurture an inexhaustible source of marine life, a food chain from benthics and baitfish through trout and salmon to sea lions and austral dolphins. Each day boating out from the lodge to a new wadeable river is an adventure, a challenge to a virgin fishing destination where you can breathe in peace.

Here, the abundant food supply in both fresh and saltwater causes all brown, rainbow trout and silver salmon, to thrive. They are, in size, shape, and fight, essentially sea-run browns and summer steelhead. The salmon make their spawning runs just as their native waters. Such histories make the rivers at once predictable and mysterious.

The lodge nestled in the forest above Dorita Bay, calls at the end of every angling day. The relaxation of the native wood rooms, the warmth of the many thermal waters sprinkled around the ground and spa, the fine food and exceptional Chilean wines: all provide the perfect setting for the many stories you're certain to tell about each of your fly fishing days in this unique destination.

A perfect spot where you can go on a fishing trip with your non-angling companion, as she/he will have the option of lots of on site excursions as well as revitalizing spa treatments.
